Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

The goals of FMEA are to:

• reduce the likelihood of and, where possible, eliminate failures before they occur;
• make failures visible (e.g., to prevent them from reaching a patient); and
• reduce the impact of a failure if it does occur.
