Community Pharmacy Reporting & Learning

National Incident Data Repository for Community Pharmacies

The  National Incident Data Repository for Community Pharmacies (NIDR) is a component of the Canadian Medication Incident Reporting and Prevention System (CMIRPS). The NIDR was established to support the collection of reports of near misses and medication incidents submitted by community pharmacies for the purpose of improving medication safety.

Provinces that contribute to national reporting and learning are provided with NIDR Provincial Safety Briefs.

Community pharmacies in participating provinces anonymously submit reports of incidents to the National Incident Data Repository for Community Pharmacies (NIDR) to share learning and inform safety improvements, reflecting a growing culture of safety in Canada.

NIDR National Snapshot

The NIDR National Snapshot shares an overview of key trends, insights and information about the types of medication incidents reported by community pharmacies across Canada. More detailed learnings from the reports of incidents are shared in safety-focused publications, including ISMP Canada Safety Bulletins and NIDR Safety Briefs.

NIDR Provincial Safety Briefs

The NIDR Safety Briefs provide provincial quantitative information reflecting medication incident reporting in a 6-month period. System safeguards are recommended based on trending safety concerns in the province and across Canada.

Medication Safety Self-Assessment (MSSA) Data Spotlight

The MSSA Data Spotlight shares select high- and low-scoring assessment items. The goal of the MSSA Data Spotlight is to help community pharmacy teams celebrate assessment items with higher scores, and to recognize opportunities to improve lower scores with the recommended safety strategies.
